High Plains Hockey League

All players, coaches, managers, and club coordinators will need to register with USA Hockey and HPHL. 

Below is a list of additional credentials that each will need to complete and/or have included in the team book. Documents and links can be found in the right side bar.

Players

Players born in 2006 or earlier will need current SafeSport Training in order to be added to a roster. The "youth athlete training" courses do NOT meet this requirement.

The following need to be turned in by each player in order to be eligible for games:

• 1st semester grades on school letterhead prior to start of league games.
• 3rd (or most recent) term grades prior to playoffs.
• School ID - the grade report listing the player's name and school attending can be used as school ID.  If attending a school outside of CO or WY or the school is not listed a Colorado HS student ID will also be required.

Grade Policy

Players must submit their most recent report card (on school letterhead) at the start of the season and again prior to playoffs.

Grades must meet the following criteria:

2.0 or higher average for the term (not the cumulative gpa) AND no F’s.

Official AP or Honors classes count one grade higher, ie; C=B, B=A, except F=F.

If grades do not meet the requirements, the player may obtain a grade update showing current grades in ALL current classes.  This must be signed by either the player’s counselor or each teacher.  Once an update, meeting grade requirements, has been submitted and approved the player is eligible to participate in games.  Players are allowed to practice with the team while working on improving grades.

Coaches

The following must be completed.  League will request if anything needs to be turned in.

• Level one or higher CEP.  Must be current and not expired.  Either class completion or the Temporary Card available during the 20-21 season can fulfill this requirement.
• Midget Age Level Module.  One time requirement; no expiration date.
• SafeSport training completed during 20-21 season.  Yearly requirement.
• Background screening through USAH confirmed as complete for 20-21 season. $30 fee.  Good for two seasons.

Additional coaching requirements:

• Completion of yearly concussion awareness training.  

Club Coordinators and Team Managers

The following must be completed. League will request if anything needs to be turned in.

• SafeSport training completed during 2023-24 season.  Yearly requirement based on calendar date of last training.
• Background screening through USAH confirmed as complete for 2023-24 season. $30 fee.  Good for two seasons.

If also acting in the role of coach then all credentials required for that role must also be completed.
